Who We Are
Hispanics for Los Angeles Opera was founded in 1991 by founding members Ed Clark and Alicia-Garcia Clark, with support from Maestro Plácido Domingo and his wife Marta as Honorary Chairs.
Our mission is to, through opera, enhance the culture and image of Hispanics of all heritages in the Los Angeles metropolitan area, and support the Los Angeles Opera internationally recognized Education and Community Program.
Our programs are guided by an all volunteer Board of Directors and Board of Advisors, who work in close collaboration with the Los Angeles Opera staff. Our activities are intended to, for nominal dues, enrich the lives of all of our members and supporters through frequent association in numerous social and cultural events, which include complimentary receptions during four Hispanic Nights at the Opera each season, complimentary Annual Founders’ Meeting recital/reception, private opera recitals, and an annual Plácido Domingo Awards Dinner.
